Socializing with other bloggers is a great way to make blogging friends and gain readers. You can always use social media to connect with people, but comment on other blogs is another great way to connect with people. You can make your comments more personal by using a Gravatar.
Setting up a Gravatar is very simple. In fact, I debated including pictures in this tutorial because it is that easy. I like pictures though, and these screenshots even have pictures of me in them 😉 , so naturally I decided to go for it.
First, head on over to Gravatar.com (by the way, I really like the look of the Gravatar website.) and start by clicking Create Your Own Gravatar.
You will log in using the wordpress.com account that you created when you installed Askimet on your blog. (If you haven’t already installed Askimet on your blog, GO DO IT RIGHT NOW! I don’t get any commission for telling you to go to this website, I just want to help protect your site from SPAM!)
Anyway, log in using a wordpress.com account. After you sign in, you will be brought to the Manage Gravatars screen. Click Add one by clicking here!
Next, choose where you want to get your image from. Your image doesn’t have to be a square when you upload it, the Gravatar website helps you square it to your liking. Once your picture is uploaded, crop it and then click Crop and Finish.
You will then be asked to rate your picture, based on movie ratings. That’s it! You’re Gravatar is all set up. Now, whenever you leave a comment on another blog, the beautiful picture of yourself will show up next to the comment! It will also show up in your author box and any comments you leave on your own blog!
