Kristie’s tips for writing summer blog posts.
Focus on local
Summer is a great time to write posts about your local area. People are always searching for things to do in _______. If I were a lifestyle blogger, I would definitely write a post this summer titled, “The best playground parks in Issaquah for toddlers.” Doran and I will be spending a lot of time a the parks, so I would take pictures when we’re there and do a round up post featuring our favorites.
I don’t know about where you live, but farmer’s markets are big deal around here. This is great for craft, food, DIY, and lifestyle bloggers. Craft bloggers can write about creating crafts for farmers markets or craft inspiration from farmers markets. Food bloggers can write about cooking with fresh food from farmers markets. Lifestyle bloggers can write about tips for shopping at the farmer’s market. Make sure to include names of your local farmer’s markets to get local visitors to your blog.
If you do write local posts, make sure to create a local board on Pinterest too and use the map features. Let all your local friends know about it and help you promote the pin.
Bonus for writing local posts: You’ll feel famous when you’re at the store and someone comes up to you and says, “Hey! You’re Kristie from Blog Ambitions, we loved that park you recommended!” I know you’ve always wanted to be famous.
Write buzz feed style posts
Top 10 BBQ food, 20 Ways to stay cool when you don’t have an air conditioner (please write that one, this pregnant lady is going to need it), 5 books you should read this summer. These posts work well anytime of the year, but for some reason they seem especially nice for summer posts.
Be fun and adventurous
Give people what they are looking for: things to do in the summer. The sun is finally shining (hopefully),the kids are out of school, and people are ready to get out and have an adventure. You can write posts a head of time by thinking of all the fun things you did last year and writing about those experiences.
Have a fun summer!
I hope you all have a fun summer. If you’re taking a vacation, make sure to read my post: tips for blogging while on vacation. We don’t have too many adventures planned for this summer, just a baby! That being said, I am looking for guest authors for my maternity leave, if you’d like to share a blogging success story or a blog tip that’s really worked for you see my page a about guest posting on blogambitions.com0
